Jeff has been around boats from childhood; he is a confirmed and incurable boater. After a pre- law curriculum in college, Jeff decided that the world had enough attorneys without a strong business background, so rather than enrolling in law school, he set out to gain a “few years” of business experience. A “few years” turned into ten years working as a yacht broker in South Florida for some of the most well respected firms. Jeff loved the yachting industry, but for years he could not justify leaving yacht brokerage to study law. As Jeff became more familiar with larger yachts, he began to recognize an opportunity to combine his industry background with a carefully planned legal education. Jeff decided the world had an acute shortage of attorneys who understand the yachting industry and look at the world through the eyes of a pragmatic, solutions oriented, businessman. After working at a highly respected law firm, in 2008 Jeff started his own practice. Cox and Company Maritime and Aviation Law has distinguished itself by focusing solely on the non- litigation aspects of maritime and aviation law, as it pertains to yacht and airplane ownership. Its attorneys are Florida licensed, with a global network of yachting and aviation industry contacts. This allows the firm to provide worldwide assistance in all legal matters pertaining to the ownership of yachts and airplanes. A large portion of the practice involves: yacht and airplane purchases and/or sales, new yacht construction, offshore closings, documentation and registration, foreign flagging, yacht chartering and crew employment. You will find Jeff in the ocean fishing or in the woods hunting when he is able to find time out of the office. Jeff, his wife Sarah, and two beautiful children, Riley and Lindsay, live in Jupiter, Florida.
